Safety Sitter Program

May contain: person and human

The Monterey County Regional Fire District offers a Safety Sitter class for kids between the ages of 10-15.

The class will be held on a  Saturday  beginning at 9:00am and lasts about 4-5 hours.  Items suggested to be brought to the class are: water, a notepad with a pencil/pen & possibly a lunch.

It is designed for new babysitters or kids who may be spending time home alone. Topics covered are: How to safely use a fire extinguisher, basic first aid, choking, hands only cpr and how to spot safety concerns.

The classes are held at the District’s Fire Stations.  We need a minimum of 6 and maximum of 12 kids for this class to be held.  With summer, fall and fire season upon us, and staff out possibly on strike teams, we are not able to commit to a date at this time.  We are looking at having the next class around January of 2024.  If interested, please contact our office at (831) 455-1828 or email kkuntz@mcrfd.org.   You will be contacted when a date is set.
