Public Access to Ethics and Fiscal Training Records

California Senate Bill 827 requires local agencies with a public website to provide clear instructions and contact information explaining how the public may request copies of ethics and fiscal/financial training records for covered officials.

Monterey County Regional Fire Protection District (MCRFD) is committed to transparency and compliance with state law.  Members of the public may request training records using the process below.

Members of the public may request the following records:

  • Ethics training records (AB 1234) - Required every two years for covered officials.
  • Fiscal and financial training records (SB 827) - Officials serving as of January 1, 2026 must complete their first training by Janyary 1, 2028, so some records may not yet be available.

 

How to Request Training Records

You may submit a request using any of the following methods:

1.  Email Request (Preferred Method)

Send an email to: kkuntz@mcrfd.org or through the District's Contact Us webpage.  Subject line: Training Records Request - SB 827 Compliance.

Please include:

  • Your name
  • Contact information
  • A brief description of the records you are requesting (e.g., "ethics training certifcates for Board members, "fiscal training records for department heads," etc.)

 

2.  Mail Request

Response Time

The District will respond to your request in accordance with the California Public Records Act, which governs timelines and disclosure requirements.  SB 827 requires local agencies to maintain ethics and fiscal training records and make them available to the public upon request.  The District will provide responsive records as promptly as possible.
