Division Chief Justin Reyes was born and raised in Salinas, CA. Justin was inspired and mentored by a family friend who was a Firefighter in the City of Monterey while he was in High School. That exposure to the fire service set his path to entering the fire service. Division Chief Reyes entered the fire service in 1998 as a Volunteer Firefighter with Salinas Rural Fire District, now Monterey County Regional Fire District. He was promoted to Firefighter in 2000 and became a Firefighter-Paramedic in 2010. He promoted to the rank of Engineer-Paramedic in 2013, Fire Captain-Paramedic in 2018 and Division Chief in 2022. Division Chief Reyes has earned a Bachelors Degree in Emergency Medical Services Administration from Columbia Southern University and an Associate Degree in Fire Protection Technology from Monterey Peninsula College. His certifications in California include Chief Officer, Fire Officer, Fire Investigator, Public Education Officer, Fire Instructor and State Examination Evaluator.
