Fire District Final Inspection Requirements

You can help ensure a passing final Fire Department Inspection! If any of the items are not complete, a final CAN'T be granted. A failed fire inspection may delay occupancy approval.

Form

_____ Permanent address numbers shall be posted. The size of letters, numbers and symbols for addresses shall be a minimum 4 inch letter height, 1/2 inch stroke, and contrasting with the background color of the sign.

_____ All residences shall have a permanently posted address, which shall be placed at each driveway entrance and visible from both directions of travel along the road, including one-way roads. The address shall be posted at the beginning of construction and shall be maintained thereafter.

_____ Where multiple addresses are required at a single driveway, they shall be mounted at a single location, or in any fashion approved by the Fire Department that provides for the same practical effect.

_____ All flammable vegetation or other combustible growth shall at all times maintain a clear distance of not less than 30 feet on each side from structures or buildings. This shall not apply to single specimens of trees, ornamental shrubbery or similar plants used as ground covers, provided that they do not form a means of repidly transmitting fire from the native growth to any structure. Additional fire protection or firebreak may be required when, because of extra hazardous conditions, a firebreak of only 30 feet around such structure is not sufficient to provide reasonable fire safety. Environmentally sensitive areas may require alternative fire protection to be determined by the Fire Chief and Director fo Planning and Building. This project requires _____ feet of clearance.

_____ The access road shall be cleared of any tree branches or shrubbery that would obstruct the 12 ft. access road width and the 13 ft. 6 inch or 15 ft. vertical clearance.

_____ The access road shall be completed with an all-weather driving surface capable of supporting fire apparatus (22 tons) and shall be per approved plans.

_____ Electric gates shall be provided with a keyed switch meeting fire department requirements. Manual gates shall be provided with padlocks meeting fire department requirements (contact your local Fire District for ordering information).

_____ Fire sprinkler alarm bell(s) shall be connected to the refrigerator circuit. The circuit breaker shall be labeled "FIRE BELL" on the the electrical panel.

_____ Fire sprinkler alarm bell(s) shall have been tested with the Inspector's Test Valve and found to be in working order prior to the final fire inspection.

_____ Fire sprinkler heads shall be free of any paint or damage.

_____ A single indicating-type valve that turns off both fire sprinkler and domestic water supply shall be installed and located above grade.
